Training Programs to Jump Start your Career
Apprentice Program
The Ring Power Apprentice Program is a two-year "Learn While You
Earn" program designed to attract and train those interested in
jump starting their career as a technician while earning a
wage.
Apprentices are given an "Apprentice Toolbox" as well as tool
credits throughout the program, which are redeemed upon completion
of the program. Apprentices successfully completing this program
have acquired basic safety and technical skills, through both
on-the-job training with mentors and by attending instructor led
classes. Upon successful completion of this program apprentices are
re-classified as an entry-level technician II in their assigned
field.
Think Big Program
The "Think Big" program is a Heavy Equipment Dealer Service
Technology (HEDST) program at South Georgia Technical College. You
will learn how to service Caterpillar equipment using cutting-edge
diagnostic and maintenance systems, advanced technologies, and
high-tech tools. Graduates of this program receive an associate's
degree in applied technology.
This paid internship allows students to apply what they have
learned during their classroom/lab sessions, in a "real world"
setting. In addition, students will become familiar with the
dealership environment, its organizational structure, and the
competencies that are expected of a professional service
technician. The 100% Caterpillar designed curriculum is a two-year
program that combines classroom work with experiential learning --
learning by doing. No more sitting in class wondering if you're
going to use what's being taught. Through hands-on work experience
and training in state-of-the-art labs, you'll get to use what
you've learned and you'll know why it's important.
